Fasteners have two major failure modes: contact fatigue failure and wear failure:
1. Contact fatigue failure
Contact fatigue failure refers to rolling fasteners under the action of high contact stress, after multiple stress cycles, the rolling element working surface forms local metal peeling and pits or pits, which cause vibration, increased noise, and temperature rise. The phenomenon of higher education not working properly. Contact fatigue failure is the main failure mode of rolling fasteners. Due to the different working conditions, lubrication environment and materials, contact fatigue failure can also be divided into hardened layer peeling, shallow peeling and pitting peeling. ①Peeling of the hardened layer: surface-treated fasteners are prone to cracks on the surface of the fastener; ②Shallow layer peeling: the initial fatigue cracks first start from the orthogonal stress under the surface of the fastener and expand to the surface to form peeling; ③ Pock-off: It is one of the common early failure modes of rolling fasteners. At the beginning of the fastener operation, the peak point contacts, the welding surface is cut, and small pits appear. After long-term operation, the pits will increase and expand. , The metal will peel off when it extends to a certain depth.
2. Wear failure
During the working process of the fastener, due to the rolling and sliding movement between the roller and the inner and outer ring raceways, the sliding movement between the guide surface and the cage, the phenomenon of continuous loss of metal on the working surface of the fastener is called wear failure. The wear of the fasteners changes the size and shape of the fasteners, resulting in larger working gaps of the fasteners, loss of rotation accuracy, and eventually temperature rise, vibration, noise, and frictional torque. The firmware is not working properly.
